She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Kathleen Jones, and her siblings, Coleen Soper, Viola Brown, Frances Hodson, Vernon Hodson and Harold Hodson. LaVerne is survived by her children, Jeff Jones of Waukee and Kristie (Neil) Dierks of Clive: three granddaughters, Mackenzie Dierks, Madison Dierks and Meredith Dierks her siblings, Carole Barlean of Booneville, Gale (Jeanne) Hodson of Altoona, and Dean Hodson of Cummings and her sisters-in-law, Virgie Hodson and Dixie Hodson, and brother-in-law Gerald Soper. LaVerne served two terms on the Waukee School Board and had been a Girl Scout Leader for 13 years. Camping with Harry and her family was a favorite pastime. She enjoyed painting, sewing and quilting. LaVerne had her own beauty salon before becoming an upholsterer and teaching ceramics out of her home. She married Harry Jones on Februand they made their home in Waukee where they raised their three children. LaVerne was born April 29, 1927, in Reynolds, ND, to Harold and Elizabeth (Wester) Hodson.
